An Objective Approach to Succession Management

Client Situation

Multiple divisions of a nationwide healthcare company needed an objective, accurate method to identify top leadership talent among a group of established leaders.

Our Solution

Talent/IQ Advisors (T/IQ) partnered with the Business Leader to establish a Leadership index, based on both subjective and objective leadership outcomes, along with a mix of customer and financial outcomes, to serve as the basis for honest discussions about the high, medium, and low distribution of leadership within the divisions, measures fairly across business units.


The output of this work was a trifurcated assessment and grouping of leaders, with action plans for development for all, but especially the top third of leaders as well as the bottom third. Financial and customer outcomes improved significantly within one year implementing this initiative.
